Spotlight On: Mystic Hills

Laguna Beach coastline

If you’re in the market for a one-of-a-kind Laguna Beach home with some of the best views in town, look no further than Mystic Hills. Nestled in the rolling hillsides above downtown, Mystic Hills is considered one of the premier neighborhoods in Laguna Beach.

About Mystic Hills

Mystic Hills is a non-gated community that is perfect for homeowners who don’t want the hassle and related fees of a Homeowner’s Association. Given its excellent location in the hills above the village, residents enjoy ocean, Catalina, coastline and valley views. This beautiful, exclusive neighborhood features homes with distinctive architecture, ranging in price from around one to ten million dollars. There are currently about 400 homes in the community with approximately 1,000 residents.

Homes in Mystic Hills

No matter your design preferences, you’ll likely find the home of your dreams in Mystic Hills. The community features an eclectic assortment of styles, from ultra contemporary masterpieces to lush Mediterranean villas – and everything in between. The homes in Mystic Hills date back as early as the 1920s, with many being built or refurbished in the last 25 years. You’ll find every size of home, from quaint 1,500 square foot bungalows to 17,000 square foot luxury estates. Prices vary based on size, amenities and views.

Mystic Hills Amenities

Lots in Mystic Hills are typically larger than those found in other Laguna Beach neighborhoods. They average in size from 8,000 to upwards of 16,000 square feet. Many families are attracted to the community because there’s more space for kids to play. It also gives the neighborhood a lower population density than comparable neighborhoods in Laguna Beach. In addition, there’s a lovely park at the end of Pacific Avenue that is not well known. Here you can not only enjoy a little peace and quiet, but you’ll also be treated to some of the best views of the city. It’s a great place to catch the city’s fireworks display on the 4th of July.

History of Mystic Hills

While the first homes in Mystic Hills were built in the 1920s, there was a surge in building in the 1960s. In 1993 a large wildfire spread through the Mystic Hills community. It destroyed nearly half of the homes in the neighborhood. Because of this, a large percentage of homes in this community have been rebuilt. Here you’ll find newer and more contemporary homes than in other parts of town.

Location and Nearby Attractions

Mystic Hills is bordered by Park Avenue Estates and Top of the World and is across the valley from Temple Hills. It is a quick ten minutes to the beach. Hikers will love the direct access to hiking and walking paths located in the neighborhood. And residents are an easy drive down to the village, where you can enjoy the art galleries, restaurants and boutiques that have made Laguna Beach famous.
