4th of July in Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach is at its best in the summer, and that’s especially true on the Fourth of July. There is no better day to experience what makes this town such a blast. Especially when it ends with a spectacular fireworks display. If you’ll be in town this Independence Day, here’s what you should know, see and do.

Check out the art festivals

The Fourth of July is a great time to take in one of the art festivals in town. Hop over to the Sawdust Art Festival or Art-A-Fair to browse one-of-a-kind treasures, watch art demonstrations or take a workshop. Please be aware that both festivals will be closing early at 6 p.m. on the holiday. But that’s okay, since you won’t want to miss the fantastic annual fireworks show.

Enjoy the fireworks in Heisler Park

As in years past, the city’s fireworks display will be launching from Monument Point in Heisler Park at 9 p.m. Monument Point will be closed all day to prepare for the event. Beginning at noon, the area from Rock Bench at Myrtle Street to the Rockpile Beach stairs at Jasmine Street will be closed for fireworks preparation. If you want to catch the show from Heisler Park or nearby, be sure to get there early. Spots on the lawn start filling up at noon. So take a blanket and picnic and enjoy an afternoon at the park while you wait for the show.

Take advantage of the free trolley

Traffic and parking can be heavy during the holiday. So why not take advantage of the free Laguna Beach trolley? The trolley will be running from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the Fourth of July. So if you are headed to the fireworks, make sure you have an alternate way to get back to your car. You can now track the trolley by downloading the official Visit Laguna Beach app. The app will also update you on current weather and tide tables and allow you to search for things to do in town.

Catch the show from a local hotspot

If you’d like a little more luxury with your fireworks show, there are several bars and restaurants in town serving up dining and viewing specials. Some of the great places to catch the show and indulge in some tasty treats include:

Enjoy a celebration at home

Let’s be honest – living in Laguna Beach is like being on vacation every day. Embrace the lifestyle by throwing your own Fourth of July celebration at home. Our city is known for its amazing and unique homes, and a summer holiday is the perfect time to enjoy them with friends and family.
